Have you ever tried Green Tea?
The remarkable benefits of green tea in the human body are thought to be so good that some people believe the key to a longer and healthier life may be in your tea cup!
Green tea has been documented for its ability to increase alertness and stave off diseases, and an awful lot of people are recognizing the health-giving properties of this so called ‘wonder’ drink when used consistently all through life.
Studies all over the world all come down to one thing and that is, “it is an inexpensive wonder drink with a long range of health benefits no one can ignore”.
Green Tea contains the largest amounts of fairly potent health promoters called “polyphenols” which are chemically changed during the fermentation of black and oolong tea. Polyphenols are a naturally occurring chemical compounds found in certain fruits and vegetables.
A subgroup of the polyphenols called catechins are particularly powerful disease fighters and potent antioxidants that have a list of health benefits from preventing food spoilage to halting the progression of cancer.
I bet you didn’t know that one of the health benefits of green tea is that can help with weight loss? Great hey! Wouldn’t it be great to be enjoying a warm cup of Green Tea and loosing weight at the same time! I say so!
It has also be known to help slow down the progression of cancer and help to lower your cholesterol, which, as we all know is paramount in today’s lifestyles. Researchers have discovered that drinking four to five cups a day might help reduce both your high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Apparently it is the flavonoids and vitamins C and E which fight against oxidation of blood cholesterol, one of the main risk factors of heart disease.
Lets face it, the Japanese drink Green Tea all the time and they have one of the lowest obesity & heart problem rates in the world, so there must be something in it! I might try some next time I’m in Sainsbury’s and give it a go.
Let me know how you get on if you decide to try it…
Time to get back to my Yoga Class!
Have you ever consider taking up Yoga? I used to do regular Yoga and I find myself really missing it at the moment so I think im going to get back to it, especially before Christmas.
Yoga is considered to be one of the best ways for us women to cope with the everyday stresses and strains life. It can help with not just loosing or maintaining weight but it helps to keep you mentally and emotionally healthy too. I am a lot more in control when I practice Yoga on a regular basis.
There are 3 different Yoga styles to choose from:
Ashtanga Yoga which many name the power yoga is known for being more athletic and flowing than the other styles. As you follow through a series of postures the emphasis is on your breathing. You are also able to generate sweat and body heat which in turn will detoxify your body.
Vini Yoga is the practice of yoga which incorporates posture, breathing, meditation and introduces a level of prayer and rituals. Not to everyone’s tastes. This yoga practice needs updating on a regular basis is your individual needs change.
Ananda Yoga makes use of temperate poses. It is gently meditative and is ideal for those of us who want to look more inwards at ourselves to control our emotions better.
I personally prefer Ashtanga Yoga but if you’re not sure then why not do some research yourself or get yourself a good book or DVD if you don’t have the time to get to a class at the moment. You could get started at home and then when you are more comfortable with it, try a class. Its also a great way to get out and meet new people who have things in common!
