Ok, so this may sound a bit weird but just lately I cannot get enough of fresh pineapple (and no, I’m not pregnant!) But, since I’ve been sticking to my diet I have been eating quite a bit of it. It may sound strange but my skins looking healthier and more luminous, my cold seems to be disappearing and I generally feel well.

I suppose it might just be coincidence but I decided to find out just a little bit about pineapples! It turns out that they are incredibly beneficial to our health!

As we all know, pineapple is a tropical fruit. It is one of the most heavenly fruits to eat as it can satisfy my sweet craving and stops me diving for the chocolate. It contains a proteolytic enzyme, bromelain, which helps in the digestion of protein and therefore can prevent blood clot formation.

Did you know that 1 cup of fresh pineapple pieces contains 73% of the manganese the body needs for the day? Manganese, which is a trace mineral, is needed to build bone and connective tissues. Put it together with glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate it can help people mild osteoarthritis in the joints.

Other nutrients included in a pineapple are Calcium, Potassium, Fiber and Vitamin C They have virtually no fat and cholesterol. Vitamin C is the body’s primary water soluble antioxidant, against free radicals that attack and damage normal cells. It is also a good source of vitamin B1, vitamin B6, copper and dietary fibre.

The ample supply of Vitamin C within a pineapple is a widely known antioxidant that protects the body from free radical damage and boosts the immune system. (Hence why my cold might be disappearing!!) Vitamin C helps build and repair bodily tissue and promotes healing. It also helps to decrease the severity of cold and flu symptoms.

Pineapple is good for your gums (no false teeth for me with the amount I’ve been eating!)

So, now that I’ve re-discovered this fantastic tropical fruit which just happens to come from a lovely warm climate, then why not treat yourself to one, have a slice for breakfast or maybe even a smoothie and enjoy the added benefits of such a fabulous exotic flavour.

Winter certainly seems to have taken hold here in the UK and I think maybe its time I went and bought myself a proper winter coat. You know, one that really can keeps you warm but looks ultra trendy. (Is there such a thing!).

Having an idea on the latest trends in winter fashions can help a little…. There are loads of websites you can browse through without even having to go out the house to give yourself a rough idea of what you might be looking for.

Don’t do what I do though and set your heart on a colour and then spend absolutely ages trying to find the right one because it has to be ‘that colour’.

Fur looks great and warm but as an animal lover I have to find the good fake stuff. I wouldn’t want to think that anything had died for me to be warm. I have also noticed that big shoulders seem to be coming back (heaven forbid!). If you were there the first time, are you brave enough to go back there again – I’m not!

At the end of the day you cant beat a good winter, wool, knee length coat in a practical colour, especially if you have children.

Here are one or two winter coats that I have found that look great. See what you think!

M & S £79.00

BHS £65.00

Well, its nearly hear again!

I don’t know about you but when it comes to Christmas shopping for men I go into a major panic. One thing that I have learnt over the years is to try and keep a particular persons interests in mind. You don’t have to just end up in a main street store and buy the usual Christmas jumper.

Ask yourself some basic questions: Does he have any hobbies? What does he like to do? What are his main interests ie sport, films, music etc?

Most men have at least some sort of interest in either golf, fishing, motor sport, football and almost every man on the planet likes gadgets. The quirkier the better I have found. My husband is forever updating his phone or ipod for the latest in technology.

What about music, everyone has a taste in music that they prefer! Has his latest band released anything new, has he been raving about somebody but you haven’t really taken any notice of him. This is a really good time to start listening to people.

Maybe a few of these ideas might help you …….

How about a Portable Digital TV & DVD Player, This is the special wireless headphone edition of the Nextbase SDV1102. Included in the box is a set of wireless headphones and IR transmitter. This allows you to listen in comfort, without wires!.

Or maybe a great new, bright coloured ipod nano, the 16GB version flash drive holds up to 4,000 songs or 16 hours video. Great for music lovers!

For more great ideas why not browse my online store, it includes such things as a Digital Camera, the size of a credit card, a Bosch Cordless hammer drill for the DIY expert in the house, the great new Apple ipod Touch (my husband is permanently attached to his!) and a few other little gems.
